Last night Wise dropped a ball in the stands and the umpire called it a catch. He never even asked Wise to show him the ball he just ruled it a catch even though he clearly did not catch it.
Tonight Chris Davis struck out on a pitch that was literally in the opposite batters box and was nowhere near the plate. Jim Palmer made a great point during his little rant on the issue when he stated that an umpire setting up on the inside has no idea if a pitch outside is a ball or a strike.
These are just two recent examples that have happened in the last two nights. Time after time these umpires prove that they need some technological assistance yet they MLB refuses to allow it other than on HR calls.
It's absolutely ridiculous and it's taking away from the game. The NFL is much better for having instant replay and the NBA has at least allowed replay at the end of the 1st half and the end of games. Why is the MLB so against it when it would clearly improve the game?
