Orioles Sell Josh Bell To Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks have acquired infielder Josh Bell from the Orioles in exchange for cash, a source tells Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun (Twitter link). Baltimore designated Bell for assignment earlier in the week.

The Orioles acquired Bell, 25, from the Dodgers shortly before the non-waiver trade deadline in 2009, the deal that sent left-handed reliever George Sherrill to Los Angeles. Bell was a well-regarded prospect then but played poorly in two stints with the O's in 2010 and '11, hitting .200/.221/.264 in 226 Major League plate appearances.

Disappointing to see that he never amounted to something, but it was time for us to part ways with him. It wasn't going to work out and he had regressed during his tenure here.

Remember when Snyder and Bell were supposed to be the 1st and 3rd basemens of the Orioles for years to come. Yet, neither of them could hit AAA pitching.

Both of those guys needed a wake up call and being dumped by the Orioles gave it to them. I don't think either of them would have been successful here because they were to complacent. I'm happy for them.

FYI - look at Snyder's K rate. Unless he fixes that he won't be hitting .333 very long.

How do you know they were too complacent? Bell, IIRC, may have been given some reports, but why do you say this about Snyder?
