Parker Bridwell 8/2 Start Delmarva

Parker Bridwell 8/2 Start Delmarva

PostPost #1 by adonijah1510 » August 2nd, 2012, 11:40 am

Well can the birthday boy connect 4 and make it his 4th quality start in a row? Parker goes for his 3rd win at home and his 5th win on the season if the offense can produce like it did yesterday it looks like he has a good shot at it. Only question is will the Birds put the 5 inning limit on Parker tonight since he's closing in on 100 innings pitched on the season we already have seen Rodriguez & Chalas put on 5 inning limit for remainder of season both with less innings pitched than Parker. Either way it goes hopefully its a good 21st birthday for Parker sure his family wishes there wasn't 1600 miles between them.

Parker throws a 10 pitch 1st over 4 batters throwing a sharp slider hitting 81 on the gun. Carver lead off with a blooping single that Webb called Pena off but couldn't get to. Parker allowed the lead off man to steal second but got the next 3 batters to fly out, pop out, and fly out to end the inning. Good way to start the game throwing mostly strikes only one ball in the 1st.

Parker takes 23 pitches in 2nd inning taking his pitch count up to 33. After a nice lead off strike out number 58 of the season hitting 91 on the gun, Parker lost control falling behind the next batter 3-0 and giving up a single. Next batter gets a 4 pitch walk with the slider down to 79 mph. The 4th batter Ford get a 1-0 single to load the bases. Parker gets his 59th K of the season and second out of the inning on a 2-2 change up. With the first pitch to the lead off man Carver hits his first homer of the season just inches fair around the foul pole off a slider, a grand slam putting Birds down 4-0. Parker get Stassi to ground out on next pitch. Parker relying on his fastball and slider tonight hopefully he'll regain command and shake off his ruff second.

Parker continues to struggle with controls after only throwing 1 ball in the first he fell behind 4 batters in 2nd. He continues in the 3rd with a 6 pitch walk to lead off batter. Parker then gets a 1st pitch ground out by Franco, then right back to a 5 pitch walk to next batter. Parker gets ahead of the DH Carmona 0-1 evens count up 1-1 before getting him to ground out into a double play. A 15 pitch inning raising his total pitch count to 48 for the game. Delmarva has zero offense so far in the game let's see if Parker can regain his control of the zone and get ahead of batters.

Parker throws a 12 pitch inning bringing his total to 60 for the game. He got ahead of 1st two batters with 1st pitch strikes giving up a single to lead off man. Then gets Ford to ground out on a 7 pitch at bat, Alverez pops out, and Carver grounds out to Espisito who made a few great defensive plays this game. Parker did register a wild pitch something that Sawyer has showed me alot of passed balls and wild pitches.

Parker continues to struggle walking first batter in 5 pitches, falling behind second batter 3-1 gives up a single. He then gets ahead of Franco 0-2 before giving up a RBI single Planeta had a good throw to home just missing runner at the plate. Parker then gets a pop up followed by a DP to end the inning. Pitch count only up to 77 but Wilkens is up in the pen warming up Parker was hitting 78 -81 with his slider in 5th. 5-0 game as Birds contiue to go down quiet scattering a few hits.

Wilkins comes in to make his first appearance for Delmarva with a pretty clean inning throwing 13 pitches. Gave up a lead off single, followed by a line out, fly out, and ground out. Wilkins hitting 88 -89 fastball on the gun and a 75 mph slider.

Bridwell Final Line: 5 IP 7 H 5 ER 4 BB 2 SO 1 HR

Not the start we were looking for falling behind to many batters and giving up to many walks. Let's hope he can bounce back for his next start.

Wilkins has a 17 pitch inning in which he allows a run in on a error by him at 1st missing the final out of the inning. Wilkins started the inning out with ground out & line out. Franco then gets a double, with next batter up Pointer grounded to first which is where the E1 was commited allowing the unearned run in. He then K's Carmona to end inning.

I was there and Parker didn't pitch well at all. Fastest I seen him throw was 91 and he couldn't control and of his pitches.

Alex Schmarzo makes his first Delmarva performance he only allows 1 BB to four batters. Collected a K, ground out, and pop out to end inning.

Schmarzo has a solid first inning in Delmarva but his scond wasn't so lucky. After giving up a lead off double to Stassi, he follows up with a walk to Dugan. He then gives up two RBI singles to Franco & Pointer making it a night for Schmarzo. Escot comes in to stop the bleeding but that doesn't work he gets his first out with a RBI ground out. He then allows a BB to load em back up, followed by a RBI single. Alverez hits into a double play ending the inning and most likley the night. 10-0 going into 9th for the Birds.

Schmarzo Final Line: 1 IP 3 H 4 R 4 ER 2 BB 1 K

Escot Final Line: 1 IP 1H 0 ER 1 BB 0 K

Another ruff start for Delmarva getting out scored 10-0 with 8 K's and only 3 H's in the game. Delmarva got outscored 32-6 in the series with Lakewood as they go on the road to Greensboro. The starting rotation for the series is goin to be Taylor Davies, Rodriguez, & Chalas. Let's hope this series is better then the last.
