Wieters is hitting .233

Wieters is hitting .233

Why does this guy get a pass?

"He's caught a lot of innings"

"He needs some rest"

"He's the best defensive catcher in baseball"...

He was drafted to hit. And he hasn't....still.

Because no one else feels the need to be outraged that the Orioles best player isn't playing at his best currently. A month ago everyone was saying he was the best offensive catcher in baseball. Why should this month mean more than last month? What do you want everyone to say? What do you want to happen to Wieters when he's not hitting? You just seem to want to be angry about it. Maybe people are just more accepting than you of the fact that baseball players have ups and downs throughout their seasons and their careers.

I don't care if he goes 15/60/260. His game calling and handling of staff is worth it's weight in gold!!! 8-)

Even though he's hitting .233, Wieters still has a wOBA of .338, a wRC+ of 111, a .220 ISO, and is walking in 10% of his plate appearances. His BABIP is just .243. He'll be fine.

I beg to differ

lifetime:

Avg. .261 OBP .327 OPS .746

Average OPS for all Major League players = .749.

OK. So he's hit like an average major league player. Pardon me for having higher expectations than this for Mr. "Joe Mauer, but with more power...."....

Being disappointed is fine. Your initial post, along with the other thread you started, makes it seem like everyone needs to be outraged ("Why does this guy get a pass?") that he's not performing up to your expectations. Like accepting him for what he is (and most of us think he's better than you think he is) is wrong.
