Via Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune:
#cubs are trying to interest #orioles in Alfonso Soriano as a LF/DH option. Strict salary dump, w/#cubs paying bulk of $54m he's owed.

Get out of here Cubs....
If the Orioles did this.....I don't even.

Also:
@DempseysArmy: Just to reiterate: Last three seasons: Alfonso Soriano 101 OPS+, Nolan Reimold 108 OPS+

I'm trying to see the positive side of this, but can't.

Soriano/Scott platoon?

The only way I would even consider taking on Soriano is if the trade is Garza + Soriano, the Cubs are paying at least 3/4 of Soriano's salary, and we aren't giving up anything substantial.

If you could pull of that trade Duquette would name you as one of his assistants.

I do not mean to kick you when you are down, but added Garza to the mix just for taking on Alfonso's contract is a bit much... even I would half jokingly ask for a high prospect in their system and still would be shot down.

Either way, I was being entertaining on twitter as a half gag. If the Orioles even thought about trading for him they are more than nuts. I rank that as laughable, if they did not shoot down the other crazy notion of bringing in Manny.

This should not be a franchise where 35 yr olds that can only supply power and base clogged ability come to finish out their careers. I have more respect for DD to think he would even consider these types of moves at this time.

Guerrero, Manny, Soriano, Papi? What's next....someone call Willie Mays and see if he'd be interested in coming back. O's might need a CF if they move Jones.

Little did you all know when it comes to signing Fielder to play 1B...they aren't talking about THAT Fielder.

Stop it already. The 90's are over folks, stop looking to get players who went in the 1st round of your fantasy league in 1997. You are building for 2014. Act like it.

I also think this is pretty telling of how little Theo Epstein thinks of the Orioles to think he can actually persuade them to take Soriano off his hands.
