Yankee$ sign 12 of top 25 International Free Agents

Yankee$ sign 12 of top 25 International Free Agents

The Orioles, of course, signed none.

The Yankees completely ignored the so-called "spending limit" and shelled out 40 million.

MLB will punish the Yankees in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement by telling them they were "naughty".

So far; which doesn't mean we won't BUT, it's NOT an encouraging sign.

I have posted about this SO many times my fingers are hoarse. This is always an excellent opportunity to improve the talent in your farm system for a very modest amount of money IF a team stays within it's allocated pool. This decision will really benefit the Yankees within a couple of years. It's not that the talent will be ML ready at that point - remember that they're 16 and 17; rather NY will have some quality trade chips to get what they want at the ML level. They're hampered in this year's trade market because their farm system is almost empty.

They will be forbidden from repeating this year's approach for the next two years, but they see it as worth the cost and I agree.
