Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

PostPost #1 by ofahn » December 24th, 2012, 9:00 pm

This was posted by Mark C on The School of Roch. I hope everyone that enjoys it will go to Roch's blog (if Disqus isn't being temperamental) and give him props.

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the school
All the students were happy, because Roch was so cool.
The stockings were hung in each locker with care
Both the stirups and whities were wintering there

The students were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of nuggets pile-jumped in their heads
And I in my O's shirt and mama in her cap
Had just settled our brains for an off-season nap

When out in the Yards there arose such a clatter
That I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter
Away to the warehouse I flew for a peak
And looked out of the windows where we counted the Streak

The lights shining down on the emerald green field
Made it bright as a day game and clearly revealed
There was Brooksie and Eddie and Cal and Cakes Palmer
And Dempsey and Boog, all the heros of Balmer

And a spry little elf with such passion and fever
That I knew in a moment, it must be Earl Weaver!
All the greats were assembled, but there were others there too
I looked closer and saw the team from 2-0-1-2!

Elrod and Dempsey were talking to Wieters
Palmer showed Tillman how to throw the high heaters
Boog showed Chris Davis how to go 3-4-3
The Blade worked with Hardy on some tricks of great D

Frank showed Adam Jones how to see the curve plainer
Cal Ripken taught Nolan to stay away from the trainer
There was Paul Blair, and DeCinces, and Cuellar and Flanny
Giving tips to Markakis, Chen, Hammel, and Manny

An Omazing display and as my eyes started to falter
I could just see Earl Weaver trading quips with Showalter
The vision had faded but the I managed to hear
The final words from the Earl: 2013's our year!

The Orioles gave me the best present of all this year and I hope they put a few more goodies under all of our trees in 2013. It was a joy to agree and disagree with all of you this year and I feel fortunate to be part of such a knowledgeable collective. My Christmas wish is that you will all be connected in some way with those you love and care about when you read this.
