Nate McLouth brought up from Norfolk; Endy Chavez DFAd

Nate McLouth brought up from Norfolk; Endy Chavez DFAd

Nate McLouth is in Tampa and is starting in LF for the O's tonight and Endy Chavez has been DFAd.

Looks like a bunch of posters just got their wish.

Thoughts?

Rather have Rick Ankiel or Scott Podsednik.

Chavez, Ford, McLouth.

All the same to me, nothing of relevance in the long run.

I feel like they will give McLouth a shot and if he struggles they will turn back to Avery or maybe even Hoes.

Hallelujah! Finally they see the light. It's not so much that McLouth is a good option it's that Chavez has been TERRIBLE and looks washed up.

I wonder which one would get the call... Avery has struggled since going down and Hoes has been phenomenal. I would think it would still be Avery because he has (albeit limited) major league experience and I think Buck likes him. Maybe they could platoon once the Tides' season ends...?

Good, no reason to keep dead weight at this point if you are serious about the playoffs.

It's about time Buck decided to let his ego take a back seat and do what's best for the team.

I can't believe they even thought for a second about batting him lead off though.

Guess they're hoping he returns to his form of 2007-8. Ida brought up Hoes though.

Chavez had a good season in '11. He was a decent 4th outfielder then but fell apart this year. No loss.

I'd give McLouth 20-25 ABs with a short leash. We need production from LF on a nightly basis. I like the Scott Podsednik idea and think he would be an asset. Time to cut bait with Lew Ford, who right now is classic dead roster spot. Hoping DD can pull off a modified Alex Rios kind of waiver acquisition 8-)
