Blanton has been on fire the last two months and he does stabilize the rotation a bit more. It should be clear that the brass is not confident in Arrieta, Matusz being able to help this year. Gonzalez looks good enough to stick. This trade could indicate they are concerned about Hammel's return too.

I don't know what to make of the Orioles chances as a wild card, but he should help at least a little, and if all it costs is money, just make the deal.

I'm not quite sure why everyone keeps saying he is another Tommy Hunter. He is well above Hunter, and has always been well above Hunter.

not close if you ask me, and Blanton throws 6.6 innings per start on average which is very good. Also he dominates in August.

So if you can get him for cheap, i'm not so sure why it's such a big deal. He's not close to being as bad as people think.

You're right, I shouldn't have said another Tommy Hunter. Blanton is better than Tommy. Homer prone pitchers do not play well in Camden Yards and that is my overall worry. And I do not want to give up a top 10 prospect for a #5 starter who we keep for 2 months.
