O's Looking at Blanton and Pierre

O's Looking at Blanton and Pierre

This according to what I am reading online. Not crazy about Blanton but Pierre solves a lot of issues for us (LF, leadoff, .300 hitter and good OBP not to mention speed!!) ... What do you think?? 8-)

I'm actually not a fan of Pierre (his avg. is due for a correction and even if it is .300 it's an empty .300, I also believe his defense is overrated at this point in his career which advanced metrics seem to agree with, and he posted a -0.4 WAR last year with the White Sox in the AL), but I am a fan of Blanton because he would be a decent back of the rotation veteran with a reasonable FIP (4.2 this year, 3.6 last year) that wouldn't cost too much. I would prefer Blanton over Vargas or Saunders for a cheap back of the rotation option.

I really hope that they do not make anymore pointless trades.

Agree. These guys help them get maybe a few more wins. Not going to change the outcome of the season much, and they give away prospects for them (the little that they have).
Just see no reason to do it.

Agreed with the last two posts. Any trade now for a rental player would be useless. Especially with Hammel out. Just got with what we have and maybe even sell. And Birdwatcher55, DO YOU HAVE A LINK????

This offense has a little too much talent to keep getting shut out. These guys need to step up, Markakis, Jones, Wieters, even Hardy.

Even by getting both of these players it will not help enough to make a difference. We certainly do no need any more Thome trades. Losing this home series was too much. Off the All-Star break, at home, staff in order, and still lose. Not good at all. :|

I think Pierre could help this lineup because everyone would slide back a notch where they probably belong anyways 8-)

Important to remember that Juan Pierre is truly terrible and trading for him would mean giving up a prospect to acquire a worse version of Xavier Avery.

Juan Pierre has been pretty solid this season, no reason to call him terrible.

Pierre's OBA is .344 this season, which is nothing to write home about. I'd leave Markakis there for now.

A .344 OBP would be second on the team (third if you count Thome).
