Should the O's look at Marco Scutaro?

Jon Shepherd at CD mentioned Marco Scutaro as a guy the O's could trade for. He wouldn't cost much and could play 2B with Roberts expected to be out for the season.

Depending on the cost, it could make sense.

Have to say I would go for it, and he'd probably come on the cheap (along the lines of what we gave up for Thome) considering the Rox are pretty far out.

For sure. He has a solid OBP and is a free agent after this year. If he cost a little less than what Thome cost, I'd make the deal.

I think a guy like Scutaro would be a nice pickup, if anything could plug the hole and make Andino available for 3B.

And he's got experience in the AL East with the BoSox and the AL overall, so I wouldn't be worried as much about the "Coors Factor".

He would be a nice addition to the team. If he is one of a couple moves that is made it could help them make the playoffs but if he is the only move made it won't help much.

I agree with that statement. He is a secondary option for a team trying to contend.

I advocated for this move last week. Seems like a cheap pick up that would be a nice temporary fix at second. That still leaves 3B and SP to fix LOL 8-)

Why not Jed Lowrie? He would cost more but offers much greater upside and could stabilize 2B for the next couple of years (although he is a high injury risk...)

Why ANY of these guys? Why not just allow Flaherty to show what he can do with regular playing time and save the limited prospects we have?

Watched Jed Lowrie here in Boston for a few years. I would pass on him and wait on Schoop or move Hardy to second in 2013 when Machado likely arrives 8-)

This is the kind of move that would help the team on the back half. It improves your defense. It cuts down on the strikeouts you would otherwise endure with Andino. Would'nt cost much, battle proven veteran....... what are we waiting for
