Great to see the rosters posted. Based on spring training, so far, and the minor league rosters we, Orioles fans, have a lot to look forward to this year and years to come. The minor league, for the O's, have some real talent to be developed both in position players as well as pitchers. At the rate some of the Major League rosters are losing players, to injury, it would behoove the younger guys to be ready, both physically and mentally, for " the call ". Buck has it going in the right direction and it will be process but it's a better outlook than in years past. I ,as a fan of the O's, am looking forward to watching this unfold and getting the O's back to one of the top rated teams in baseball.

I have Berry way ahead of these two. To call Berry projectable would be an understatement, and he already sits 89-92 mph with an above-average curve. Berry is not too far behind Wirsch IMO.

He'll likely end up with the Baysox. If the Orioles want to protect him from the Rule-5 draft, he'll end up on the 40 man roster. The Orioles want to see him at higher levels I'm sure.

At this point in time, Jimenez is slightly better and also has a bit more packed on his frame. Adrian is more or less a string bean at the moment and the Orioles are not teaching him the correct setup for his size. This kid needs to live off a slider at his arm and angle with the plain of 6'5" guy. I think Adrian can easily pack on 30 pounds and be a one man wrecking crew with the late life on his fastball.

I think both could be guys to watch as relief pitchers. Plus, I like both of these guys over Tim Berry in the long term. No one at this level even compares to Coffey or Wirsh.

Similar to Jimenez. Fastball is 1-2 mph slower and his breaking ball isn't quite as good.

One that you might have omitted was Yancorix Adrian. He has room to grow and some polish could make him a fairly effective pitcher.

Angle hurt his finger diving into a base on the 31st. Seems like MacPhail and Showalter have been to every affiliate within the last 2 weeks aside from the GCL (Joe Jordan was there a week ago) and Bluefield (not sure who has been there). Thanks for the info!

I noticed that he has not played in three of the last four games. Could an injury be part of the reason for him not being called up? Also Andy MacPhail was at Dellmarva tonight for the game and I was told will be in attendance again Friday.

I'll agree with you on the pictcher, no contest. On offense, I'll lean the other way. Mahoney has not only been the better player from day one, he has progressed further during the course of the season.

We know that minor league pitcher of the year in the organization will be Zac Britton, but it seems a two man race between Joe Mahoney and Ryan Adams.

I would give it to Adams. This is a second baseman with the most XBH and an OPS over .800. If these numbers were coming from a corner player, you would be estatic. Seeing his production from second base, it is just un-real.

The Tides were left with a hole at SS/2B when Andino was recalled. They already have Hughes and Aubrey who can play 1B but they still needed another position player. Britton can play 2B, SS and 3B. This also allows Jonathan Schoop to get a few A+ at-bats before the season ends.

The records of the lower level affiliates should be much improved this year, as they'll have more talent and less fillers. It also has to do with breakout seasons, it's hard to predict minor league team records. To be honest, I don't pay attention to minor league standings during the season. 85% of the players will never touch a major league roster, which is why I focus on the players I feel have the chance to make an impact.

The upper minor league teams (AA & AAA) will play their spring training games on the backfields of Ed Smith stadium. And yes, every player below AA will play & practice at Twin Lakes.

Hoes improved his footwork and transfer on double-plays. I think I saw him 4 times in spring training and 4 times at Frederick and the improvements were easy to see.

Givens has a higher ceiling but Hoes is a much safer bet.

His velocity has been up and down this year and I'm not sure he's been in good shape. Doc Shorebirds, the Orioles Hangout Delmarva beat writer, reports Hobgood is expected to cut some weight this off season and show up in spring training in what may be the best shape of his life. More analysis of Hobgood:
