Position Player of the Week – Josh Hart, OF, (A, Delmarva)
.438/.444/.438 (7/16) with 1 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 SB
Hart does not have much power, and I do not project there to ever be much power. However, he is showing his plus ability to barrel the ball and make contact. Hart’s play in CF is already tremendous, but the bat is starting to come around and he is beginning to string together more consistent at bats. Check out this play from over the weekend.
Starting Pitcher of the Week – Eddie Gamboa, RHP, (AAA, Norfolk)
7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K
Gamboa is one of the more interesting players in the O’s system, and he finally pieced together a start that was similar to his performance last season. With two variants of the knuckleball and a fastball with life in the low 90’s, Gamboa has some real buzz towards potentially seeing the majors.
Relief Pitcher of the Week – Jimmy Yacabonis, RHP (A, Delmarva)
2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
Yacabonis is the closer for Delmarva and has not given up a run the entire year in 11.0 innings. He is a power reliever with good extension and drive off the mound, causing his 91-94 mph fastball to explode out of his hand. Hitters often have a hard time catching up to it. When I last saw him, he was occasionally flashing a change as well, but it needed some work. However, Yacabonis is taking the bull by the horns in Delmarva and could be one of the first promotions we see in May if he continues his performance.
