Don’s Thoughts: Joel Hutter has a strong, thick and athletic build. He has a strong arm and surprising agility that gives him enough range to stay at SS, but could be better suited to 2B or 3B.
His athletic ability could allow him the versatility to be a utility infielder. Offensively, Hutter shows a compact swing with high hands. He stays back on the ball, and his swing path is more of a line drive swing with good bat speed.
The skill set is present for both contact and power in the future, but it will depend on his ability to handle a better class of pitching as the better college pitchers routinely got the better of him.
