Orioles Spring Training Notes: 3/29/12

The Orioles won 4-3  against the New York Yankees today.

Their current spring training record stands at 11-11-5.

Notes

 

  • Matt Wieters went 2-3 with a Triple, and 2 Runs Scored. He has 10 hits in his last 13 at-bats, raising his spring average to .302.
  • Ronny Paulino went 1-1 with an RBI Single.
  • Nolan Reimold went 2-4.
  • Mark Reynolds went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI.
  • LJ Hoes went 1-1 with a run scored.
  • Jason Hammel pitched 5 1/3 innings with 5 H, 2 R, 5 K, 0 BB allowed. He also hit a batter. He threw 89 pitches, 49 for strikes.
  • Troy Patton pitched 2/3 of an inning with 1 H, 0 R, 0 K, 0 BB allowed. He did allow an inherited runner to score.
  • Darren O’Day pitched an inning with 1 H, 1 R, 1 K, 2 BB allowed.
  • Pedro Strop pitched an inning with 1 H, 0 R, 0 K, 1 BB allowed.
  • Pat Neshek recorded the save, pitching an inning with 0 H, 0 R, 2 K, 0 BB allowed.

 

  • The Orioles announced that Dana Eveland has been designated for assignment.
  • They also announced that 3B Zelous Wheeler was claimed off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers. You can read more details here.
  • Dan Duquette has had trade discussions with plenty of teams, according to MASN’s Roch Kubatko.
  • Tsuyoshi Wada will make one more start this spring, according to Kubatko.
