Orioles Spring Training Notes: 3/28/12

The Orioles lost 9-3  against the Toronto Blue Jays today.

Their current spring training record stands at 10-11-5.

Notes

  • The Orioles totaled 5 hits.
  • Ryan Flaherty continued to impress, going 1-3 with a 2 RBI single.
  • Glynn Davis went 1-1 with an RBI single.
  • Dana Eveland pitched 4 innings with 6 H, 3 R, 1 K, 2 BB allowed. He threw 51 pitches, 34 for strikes.
  • Alfredo Simon had a rough outing, pitching 2 innings with 6 H, 6 R, 0 K, 1 BB allowed. He had not pitched since March 18 due to a groin injury.
  • Jim Johnson pitched an inning with 1 H, 0 R, 0 K, 1 BB allowed. He threw 19 pitches, 12 for strikes, and topped out at 92 MPH.
  • Zach Phillips pitched a perfect inning.

 

  • Pitcher Mike Mussina, 2B Rich Dauer, and Scout Walter Youse have been elected to the Orioles Hall of Fame.
  • There was a long list of minor league players released today. Ryohei Tanaka, Jacob Julius, Francis Beltran, Mike Mooney, Tim Adleman, Douglas Ferguson, Travis Strong, Peter Fatse, Adam Gaylord and Tom Di Benedetto, according to MASN’s Steve Melewski. Melewski also provides various details on new minor league roster expansions and updates on a few players, including Ryan O’Shea and Hector Veloz.
  • The Orioles could potentially be interested in Yankees OF Justin Maxwell, according to George A. King III of the New York Post . He is out of options and could become available.
