Orioles Announce Uniform Changes For 2012

Published by Jordan Tuwiner on November 15, 2011

Cartoon Bird Returns on Official Home and Road Caps, Alternate Orange Jersey Unveiled

The Orioles today unveiled their uniform changes for 2012, highlighted by the return of the cartoon bird as the logo on the club’s home and road caps and the introduction of an alternate orange jersey for Saturday home games.

The 2012 cartoon bird head is a new design, utilizing elements from both the 1970 and 1983 versions. It will replace the ornithologically-correct bird on both the home and road caps. The club’s new home cap will feature the cartoon bird on a white front panel with a black back and orange bill and button. The look will be replicated on the club’s home batting helmets. The road hat will feature the cartoon bird on black with an orange bill and button. The same look will be utilized on the road batting helmets.

The 2012 cartoon bird head is a new design, utilizing elements from both the 1970 and 1983 versions.

For the first time since the 1992 season, the Orioles will wear an orange jersey for select home games. The orange jersey features the “Orioles” script in black with a white outline and joins the existing black jersey, worn on Friday nights, as an alternate version of the uniform. The orange jerseys will be worn for Saturday home games.

In honor of the 20th Anniversary of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, each of the club’s jerseys will feature a patch on the right sleeve commemorating the anniversary. In addition, the left sleeve of each uniform will feature a patch with the Maryland flag and “Baltimore Orioles” text. This version of the Maryland flag patch had previously appeared only on the club’s home jerseys.

On the road uniforms, the “Baltimore” script on the road jerseys has been restyled, featuring a less severe angle and the removal of the tapering effect of the letters.

The club’s primary logo, “Orioles” script on the team jerseys and O’s alternate cap are unchanged.

Images of all of the club’s 2012 uniforms are available at www.orioles.com/2012. Merchandise featuring the new uniform designs is available now at www.orioles.com as well at the Orioles Official Team Stores at Camden Yards and at the York Galleria Mall.
