Jonathan Schoop spent the first half of the 2011 season dominating South Atlantic League pitching, and finished it by posting a .907 OPS in August as the second-youngest player in the Carolina League.
During his time at Delmarva he showed power not often seen from a 19-year old and although his power production did drop off at Frederick, that is to be expected — all players need time to adjust.
After initially struggling as a Key, Schoop’s hot month of August helped him finish the season with a Carolina League OPS+ of 101.
Schoop entered the season as our #8 prospect, came in at #2 on ON’s combined mid-season list, and should remain a top 5 prospect in the system when we publish our end-of-season list.
