Kyle Hudson is hitting .471 with a .571 OBP over his last ten games. Brian Matusz is the scheduled starter for Norfolk tomorrow, although he is expected to pitch for the Orioles so Norfolk’s starter will likely be someone else.

Brandon Waring now has 40 career home runs with the Baysox, putting him second all-time and just two behind Baysox career-home runs leader Keith Reed. The Baysox lead the Eastern League with 147 stolen bases this season.

Jonathan Schoop’s hitting .419 with an 1.189 OPS over his last 10 games, although he does have just two walks and eight strikeouts over that span. Since his promotion to the Carolina League on July 14th, Jacob Pettit owns the third- best ERA in the CL behind Bobby Bundy (FRE) and Chris Hernandez (SAL). After posting to his Twitter account that he was starting fresh at the plate, Manny Machado hit a home run.

Over Ashur Tolliver‘s last 24 innings pitched (since June 25), he has allowed just one earned run (0.38 ERA). He has been promoted to Frederick. Luis Noel is now the all-time Shorebirds win leader with 22. The Shorebirds have a double header tomorrow. Cowan will get the nod in game 1 while Mike Wright will start game 2. The Shorebirds added Parker Bridwell from Aberdeen today.

Right-handed pitcher Travis Strong has been transferred back to Aberdeen from Delmarva. Strong began the year with the IronBirds and posted a 1-0 record with a 2.25 ERA in six appearances (16.0 innings of work). While with the Shorebirds, Strong struggled. He went 0-2 with an 8.31 ERA in seven outings (8.2 innings). Narron had one of his best offensive games last night against the Crosscutters. The IronBirds’ third baseman went 3-for-3 with two RBI. It was his first three-hit game and first multi-RBI effort this season. Prior to last night, Narron had just three hits in his previous 48 at bats.

Jaime Esquviel leads the GCL in ERA with 0.69. I have not heard anything about Cameron Coffey’s brief outing. He was either promoted to Aberdeen to replace Bridwell or he is hurt. I am trying to find out more information.
