Don’s Thoughts: Adam Matthews is a university of South Carolina outfielder that fell because of injuries earlier this year. He has a nice combination of speed and power potential, which makes him an intriguing pick at this stage of the draft.
I like the size/frame combination and could project as a solid left fielder in the future. He will draw Nolan Reimold comparisions, but their games are completely different at the same stage.
He is another tool based position outfielder from the college ranks that fits Joe Jordan’s preference for selections. I suspect that the Orioles will be following him in the CCSL (Cape Cod Summer League) this year as a draft and follow. If fully healthy, he should have gone higher than the 23rd round.
