Scouting Summary:
- projectable lefty
- keeps the ball down in the zone
- heavy fastball with sink and lateral movement
- curveball flashes potential, and gives slurve feel because of arm slot
- raw for a college guy and will need to be brought along slowly
- 89-92 mph fastball
Don’s Thoughts: I feel Matt Taylor is a projectable left handed pitcher that can keep the ball down in the zone. He throws a real heavy fastball and a decent two-seamer that show solid sink and lateral movement. His curveball shows some flash potential and with the high 3/4 slot delivery gives off the “slurve” type feel.
Even though he is a two year college lefty, he will have to be brought along slowly, and his makeup will need some fine tuning. He will likely command over slot money to keep him from joining the Georgia Bulldogs in the fall.
