The Orioles announced eight spring training roster cuts, trimming their roster to 30 players.
Clay Rapada, David Riske, Ryan Drese, Pat Egan, Mark Hendrickson, and Nick Green were assigned to minor league camp. Hendrickson and Riske may decline their assignments and look for major league deals elsewhere. These moves leave the Orioles with just 7 relievers, giving them an opening day bullpen of:
- RHP Jeremy Accardo
- RHP Jason Berken
- LHP Mike Gonzalez
- RHP Kevin Gregg
- RHP Jim Johnson
- RHP Josh Rupe
- RHP Koji Uehara
Just one lefty.
The Orioles optioned Nolan Reimold to Triple-A Norfolk and Randy Winn asked for and was granted his release. It seems Winn wants no part of the minors and will likely look for a major league deal elsewhere, though it’s unlikely he finds one.
