Sources have told OP that the O’s have reached an agreement with 19th round pick, Kenny Wise. The details of the deal are unclear.
A big RHP (6′ 6″) from Santa Fe Community College in Florida, Wise posted a 4.20 ERA with 60 strikeouts in 60 IP this past season. Scouts love his size and feel he could become a back-end starter at the major league level.
His fastball sits in the high 88-90 mph range, touching 93, along with a potential average curveball and an already average changeup. Andy Seiler says size is his best attribute and when he gets a good downward plane on the ball he’s hard to hit.
