1. In your opinion is Rendon a better prospect than Harper? If so, could you explain in what ways?

2. I have heard a lot of Rendon-Longoria comparisons. Is it possible Rendon could even be better than Longoria if you consider his glove work and plate discipline?

It wouldn't be smart for either to go back to school and enter the 2011 draft. I'd take Rendon over Harper, easily, and I'm sure most would take Purke and Cole over Machado. I know I would.

"Play with fire and go back… Levon Washington tried it and is losing alot of money because his skills were exposed when going against better than high school level talent."

This is a statement stance that I make at the moment. Bryce Harper would not lose because he has show to be better than the talent level at that league and would be high school age. Manny would be a year older and lets say he takes a peg down and has trouble hitting in that league or any league for that manner. He could go from 3 to 12 next year with an influx of talent from the 2011 class. It means that he could go from 6 million in his pocket to 2 million. Scott Boras is not crazy enough to leave money on the table for either player.

1. I'm still not worried about Machado signing, but if it did happen, the Orioles probably wouldn't risk drafting one of them with the pick they would receive for failing to sign Machado this year. If they fail to sign the player they take with the comp pick next year, it's unprotected and they'd receive no compensation.

2. Probably, but I doubt it happens.

1. There are reports that both Bryce Harper and Manny Machado will attend college the upcoming year. With that being so, is there a slim chance the Orioles could draft both Byrce Harper and Anthony Rendon (whcih would swap Rendon with Machado) in next year's draft?

2. If this occured would it create possibly the most dynamic one two punch based potential?

He's just a fill in catcher. He'll be moved up and down when an injury happens. Nothing more than an org. filler.

With all the injuries at C this season, there has been a lot of shuffling. Delmarva recently added Kyle Moore from Frederick. One game with the Keys

1. Could be a .320 hitter with 30 HRs.

2. They will try Klein as a starter first, but he has more than enough stuff to become a closer if starting fails.

3. They would have the #4 selection in the 2011 draft.

1. Although it is very early in the whole developmental process, what do you expect from Manny Machado's production in the Majors on average?

2. Is it possible for Dan Klein to be the closer of the future or just a nice reliever in the Majors?

3. If the Orioles are unable to sign Manny Machado (I fully expect him to sign), do the Orioles get a compensator pick at the same position in next years draft?

No problem. Let's see:

1. Machado - We knew the negotiations were going to go down to the wire.

3. Dan Klein - I believe Joe Jordan said the negotiations are going much slower than expected. But he should sign soon.

4. Trent Mummey - We knew he'd sign quickly.

5. Connor Narron - We knew this was going to be a tough, but it should happen soon.

6. Dixon Anderson - Sophomore, so he can still go back to college. We'll probably sign him, but close to the deadline, which was expected.

7. Matt Bywater - Was expected to sign quickly, and I honestly can't tell you why he hasn't signed yet, I'm shocked.

8. Wynston Sawyer - We also knew this was going to be a tough sign, and he'll probably get an overslot bonus. HS teammate told me he expects Sawyer to sign, though.

9. Parker Bridwell - High upside. If I had to pick any top 10 draftee to go unsigned, I'd go with Bridwell.

10. Clayton Schrader - We signed him today.

Overall, I think our negotiations with Klein and Bywater have gone much, much slower than we expected. But as for the others, some sort of delay is normal.

Ugh, realized my question didn't come out right... I meant to ask about the O's rounds 1-10 draftees, not the top 10 guys. Oh well, still an interesting question.

Thanks for the responses.

Dan Klein could progress very quickly. Still very hard to tell at this point. Connor Narron has the highest potential of anyone in the class (beyond Machado). If you are looking for upside, Narron, Wynston Sawyer and Parker Bridwell stand out. If you're looking for safer bets, Dixon Anderson, Klein and Trent Mummey.

That's how much time every prospect should get, at the very least.

The Rays leave all of their top pitching prospects in AAA for 40+ starts, not many bust. When they come to the majors they are ready to help out right away. I still don't understand why other teams haven't learned from them .

Following up, is 30 starts, or 500 AB's at AAA ball for any top prospect a realistic number?

The main thing is patience. I have stressed this a lot and it's evident when talking about pitching prospect in particular. Tillman and Arrieta received the proper amount of time in the minors. They handled Tillman well when they first brought him up, but their recent shuffling, sending him up and down and up and down is the reason for Tillman's struggles.

Arrieta received a good amount of AAA time, but he was walking way too many hitters and was not ready to come up. Matusz should have received some AAA time, but I was fine with the move because he's so advanced. He'll be fine in the long run.

Hopefully they keep Britton down in AAA for at least 30 starts before his major league debut. They better not make the same mistake again.

What do you think is the reason for recent Orioles prospects not achieving their full potential at the Major League level, and what's the best way to fix the flaws in the system?

No problem.

I definitely see him as a singles hitter, with maybe 25-35 doubles and a bunch of triples, maybe 10-12. Some believe Avery could develop 15-20 HR power, but 9-12 is more realistic to me.
