So whats the story on this kid? Hadnt heard of him before your recent posts on your GCL trip. Was he drafted or an international free agent?
He was signed out of Curacao. He has been by far the best player on the GCL O’s, most of the players believe so as well. He can play 3B, 2B and maybe SS in a pinch, he’s a stud on defense. He can throw from 2 different arm angles, very strong arm. Very nice approach at the plate, a good contact hitter, has some power potential.
Leonora and Schoop have both been promoted to Bluefield. I was surprised to hear you say that Leonora was by far the best player down there, especially considering that Schoop is the same age (18), a SS, and had hit 3 homers and shown more power than Leonora. What did you see or hear about Schoop?
I knoe, I broke the news of the promotions:

Not jumping on you or anything, but where did I say that? If so, I take it back. You can see my thoughts on Schoop here:

They were by far the best players on the team, it’s easy to see while watching. Before they were officially promoted, other players told me they’d be doomed if they lost those two.
Well, he looks very talented, but he really needs to fix that hesitation in his swing. He is moving a lot before the pitch then brings his hands back before coming forward. I would venture a guess he struggles against top quality off speed stuff. However, if they iron that swing out a little bit, look out! He could be very good.
