GCL Notes Day 1 – Orioles vs. Rays

The GCL Rays defeated the GCL Orioles in a 15 inning game. Game notes:

• Cameron Coffey told me he should be back into game action in about 3 weeks.
• Enrico Jimenez was impressive, attacking hitters with a 85-88 mph fastball. He picked up 8 strikeouts in 6 innings, walking just 2 batters.
• David Richardson struck out 3 and walked on in 1 inning. His fastball was in the 91-94 mph range, but had little movement. He complemented that with a slurvy breaking ball in the mid 80′s.
• Dudley Leonora made two flashy defensive plays, one at third base and one at second. At third base, he dove for a ball about three feet to his left and rocketed it to first for the out. At second base, with a runner on first, he dove to his left, stopped the ball and threw to get the force out at second.
