Moreau No-Hitter Final Out 6-30-10
#Orioles LHP Nathan Moreau, in High-A Frederick debut, pitched a nine-inning no hitter in 7-0 win over Salem. First Keys no-no since 1991
There isn’t a lot of information on Moreau, so here’s a short scouting report:
- low 90′s fastball
- deceptive lefty, curveball is second pitch
- never dominated in college but was expected to surprise in the pros, and he has, somewhat
UPDATE – 11:24 PM: A reader sent in a picture of the Keys celebrating the no-hitter after the game:
@orioleprospects I Watched Fredrick No Hit Salem Red Sox Tonight – Awesome Game! http://twitpic.com/21dyjn #milb #orioles #mlb

It is awesome that Frederick and Norfolk both have guys throwing no hitters, if only one of the MLB guys could do so
Here is MiLB.com’s take on the game. It turns out that Moreau didn’t get to the stadium until 2pm.
I remember reading that Stephen Strasburg did not look at a scouting report on the Pirates before he went out and struck out 14 in his MLB debut. Between these two games, I’m wondering if pitchers need to think and study less……..
So do you think this moves Moreau up the prospect rankings? Where was he anyway? I don’t think he was a top 20.
He was probably in the 30-45 range, depending on how you look at him. I don’t think one start will move him up prospect rankings, but it will certainly get him more attention and force people to follow him closely.
