Notes and Transactions
- Rick Zagone promoted to Bowie and will make AA debut tomorrow.
- Like I said yesterday, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nathan Moreau promoted. With Zagone leaving a spot open at Frederick, a promotion for Moreau looks more likely to happen.

Jordan (or anyone else) What are your overall thoughts about Tillman’s performance tonight, against a weak hitting Charlotte team (.247 for the season)?
6.2 IP, 6 Hits (2 singles, 1 double, 3 home runs), 2 BB, and 7 SO. The 3 home runs were all solo shots and the last 2 were back-to-back in the 6th inning. He threw 60% of his pitchers for strikes, with 5 ground-outs and 8 fly-outs.
Some FYI stuff:
Josh Bell’s two home runs were both hit from the left side.
MiLB.com Scoreboard page lists Troy Patton as the Tides pitcher for the game tomorrow afternoon. Justing Anderson will be pitching for the IronBirds against Staten Island on Wednesday.
Delmarva’s broadcaster, Bret Lasky, has an audio interview with recently returned Tyler Townsend up on the team’s website.
I wish he would have continued and not given up the HRs, but not a bad start overall.
Fixed the error on Tides starter. Used to have the rotations memorized but they’ve been shaken up lately. Thanks for the link on Townsend!
Remember, back at the past Carpenter and Holliday both had big time home run problems with the Jays when they 1st made it to the big leagues. Just a thought.
True. There is definitely time for him to work things out, he’s still so young.
Jeff Zrebiec at the Sun’s Orioles Insider notes that Tillman is now working on a two-seam fastball and a cutter. He threw four two-seamers and seven cutters in last night’s game.
Also, his velocity was up into the low 90′s, from the high 80′s at the end of his stay in Baltimore.
That’s exactly what he needs to do. Glad to hear the good news!
Good to see that nothing has changed for Gonzalez. Pitched 1 1/3 innings, three hits. Came in with two runners on and allowed both of them to score. This for a $12 million dollar player against SS A Ball.
He’s certainly not fully healthy. I think people are getting a little worried about his 3 outings at the beginning of the season. He was a shutdown reliever for Atlanta last season and there’s no reason to think he can’t be the same guy this year as well.
