Scouting Report (via Pat Hickey):

A red-shirt senior draftee out of Pacific University, Oliveira is a defensive-minded catcher that played under Ed Sprague Jr., whose father was the scout who brought Mike Mussina and others to the Orioles. He is a very good athlete for his size and has developed into an excellent game caller and receiver. The arm is above-average and he works well with the pitchers. Oliveira has a decent bat with gap power and slightly above average plate discipline. He’s well-built, with a strong lower body. Oliveira projects as a backup catcher at the MLB level.

Overall Thoughts:

Oliveira reminds me of Justin Dalles from the 2009 draft class, a defensive-minded catcher where any offense will be an added bonus. Both project as backup catchers.
