UPDATE 9:29 PM:
#Orioles scouting director Joe Jordan on Machado signing concerns: “He’s going to be a Baltimore Oriole. I have no doubt about that.”
UPDATE: 11:48 PM:
Manny Machado is on twitter: @MannyMachado3
UPDATE: 10:10 AM
Andy Seiler had this to say about the O’s pick:
It’s hard to go wrong when you pick the best available player on almost everyone’s board, and that’s what they did when they got Manny Machado.
Overall thoughts:
The Orioles did exactly what they were expected to do, which was take whoever the Pittsburgh Pirates did not take between Machado and Jameson Taillon. They got the best player available and got themselves what looks like a future all-star shortstop.

Cant wait to watch this kid go through our system.
so he is a righthanded hitter awesome
He seems like a big bat. If only he doesn’t take steroids like Rodriguez lol. But finally, something I wanted with this club happened. I said, go big bat over raw high school pitcher. Thank you.
6’3″ 230lbs? I don’t think so. Look at the videos. I’d say more like 6’2″ 180lbs.
Took the info from MLB.com, I trust their report.
Hope he is better than Beckham has been for the Rays!
He better be! Looks like he has a better chance to stick at SS than Beckham.
Beckham is looking like one of the worst #1 picks in the last 10 years, although he is still young.
