Today marks the start of the draft. The draft coverage begins at 6pm on MLB Network and the Draft begins at 7pm, with the Orioles selecting 3rd overall. Throughout the day and through the draft I will be posting within this post updated news and notes on the draft.
Use this post as a place to discuss the draft and post your opinions on what’s going to happen, or who the Orioles should select.

Andy Seiler of MLB Bonus Baby posted his final mock draft. He has Manny Machado going to the Orioles.

Just got my first look at John Sickels’ final mock draft. Like Andy, he has the Orioles taking Machado.
3) Orioles: Manny Machado, SS, Brito Private HS, Miami: If the Pirates go with Machado after all, put Taillon here.
It’s clear that the Orioles will select whoever the Pirates don’t take between Machado and Jameson Taillon.

Manny Machado. I’m about 99% sure on that one. It will be Harper-Taillon-Machado.

Can anyone tell me why MLB does not allow the trading of draft picks? It seems allowing trades would increase interest in the draft and make it more popular like the NFL, NHL, or NBA drafts.

I’d rather have Taillon. I quote Pat Hickey of MLB Bonus Baby “When has a high school pitcher come out of the draft with a plus fastball that isn’t even his best pitch? Taillon is special.”
it’s amazing how it looked like Taillon was ours up until yesterday. I’m disappointed but that’s what makes the MLB draft special.
