Over the past 24 hours there has been a lot of buzz regarding the Pirates and their #2 draft pick. Keith Law writes:
A fairly dramatic about-face, if true, as the Pirates have indicated all spring they’d probably eschew high school arms in the first round, as they did last year in passing on lefty Tyler Matzek.
His most recent mock was the first one he made with the Pirates taking Jameson Taillon, with the Orioles getting Manny Machado.
However, Jim Callis of Baseball America is saying it could go both ways:
Machado but not sure thing @sch28: If you were a betting man, Machado or Taillon for the Pirates at pick 2?
Could happen. @scully0505: Any truth to the rumors that the Pirates will take Taillon instead of Machado?
I know the draft is unpredictable, but it’s the sudden changes of the past 24 hours that are really making the Orioles’ #3 selection interesting.
To me, Taillon seems like the greater talent but I’d love to have a true SS prospect, like Machado, in the system. Jim Callis also believes that Machado will be able to stick at shortstop, which causes me to like him even more:
Believe he will stay there. @CamdenCrazies: Sounds like that might be moot now. So how do you like Machado’s chances to stick at short?
UPDATE: Frankie Piliere is also in on this situation. He believes Taillon will be draft by the Pirates:
And, yeah for those of you who haven’t read my article yet, my sources have me leaning towards Taillon at 2 now. Still a toss up I think

I just hope we get a guy that becomes a young stud
Hopefully, both of these guys have a lot of potential, but I’ll always take a stud pitcher over a stud hitter.
