Position Player of the Month – Caleb Joseph
Right now, Joseph looks like a top 7 prospect. The problem is he’s going to have trouble finding playing time given that Matt Wieters is behind the plate. Joseph had an excellent May, with a .322/.392/.460 line and 9 walks compared to just 7 strikeouts.
Starting Pitcher of the Month – Zach Britton
After a somewhat rough April, Britton had a May to remember. He registered a 4.27 GO/FO ratio and walked just 12 batters in 34.2 innings. His strikeout rate is down a little from last season, but that’s something that should be expected from a pitcher throwing sinkers about 70% of the time.
Relief Pitcher of the Month – Pedro Beato
Beato’s move to the bullpen has him on his way to a breakout season. In May he struck out 13 batters in 14.1 innings with a 0.63 ERA. It looks like his fastball is back.

I’d have to imagine Arrieta wasn’t far behind Britton? Beal?
