Pitcher of the Week: Matt Hobgood
Why He’s Here: 12.2 IP (2 GS), 8 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, 1 W, 1.42 ERA
Scoop: The Orioles’ 2009 first round draft pick is living up to expectations so far. His week was highlighted by a scoreless 7 innings performance, in which he allowed just 2 hits.
Hobgood has done everything you want to see from your first rounder so far. Whether it’s strikeouts (14 in 16.2 IP), control (6 walks) or groundballs (1.83 GO/FO), Hobgood is getting the job done.
Hitter of the Week: Tyler Kolodny
Why He’s Here: .333/.400/.732 (9 for 27), 1 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 7 RBI, 3 BB, 10 K, 1 SB
Scoop: He’s a little old compared to the rest of his competition, but Kolodny has played well in every aspect of the game. Reports from Delmarva have said that he’s not just hitting regular home runs, but that they are almost line drive home runs. Every ball that he makes contact with is being hit hard.
If he keeps this up, we could see him in a Frederick Keys uniform pretty soon.

What a week from Hobgood. Do you have any reports on his stuff/velocity?
He was in the upper 80′s at spring training. Haven’t heard any reports but he’s likely at 93-95 mph right now.
