Durham 5, Norfolk 3 – Box Score
- Brandon Snyder went 1 for 4 with 2 strikeouts.
- Josh Bell went 1 for 4 with a run and 2 strikeouts.
- Kam Mickolio pitched 1 inning, allowing just 1 hit. He struck out two batters.
Analysis: I’m happy to see Bell and Snyder both get on the board with hits, but I don’t like the two strikeouts. Kam Mickolio should be the first guy up if anyone in the Orioles’ bullpen gets injured.
Richmond 0, Bowie 1 (Game Suspended) – Box Score
- Zach Britton pitched 4.1 innings, allowing just 3 hits. He struck out 3 batters.
- Brandon Waring went 1 for 2.
- Caleb Joseph went 1 for 1 with an RBI and a walk.
- Robert Widlansky went 1 for 2.
Analysis: It’s unfortunate that Britton’s start was cut short by rain. Nice to see him have a solid Double-A debut but would’ve liked him to pitch that well for 6 innings. Looks like Caleb Joseph is already having success at the plate, he could be in for a huge year.
Frederick vs. Lynchburg (Postponed)
The game will be made up as a double-header on Saturday, first game at 6:05 PM.
Delmarva 3, Greenville 5 – Box Score
- Ryan Berry pithced 5 innings allowing just 5 hits and 1 ER. He struck out 4 batters.
- Bobby Bundy pitched 1 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 ER. He walked 1 batter and struck out 1.
- Tyler Kelly went 2 for 5 with a run and an RBI.
- Garabez Rosa went 0 for 4 with a strikeout.
Analysis: I’m not surprised to see Berry have an excellent outing. I suspect he’ll be up at Frederick when a) he just proves he’s too good for Delmarva or b) when Vito Frabizio comes to Delmarva or they want to move Bundy into the rotation. The Delmarva pitching staff is so deep that Bundy is a reliever, not good to see him struggle in that role. We signed him to a $600,000 bonus, I want to see him starting, not relieving. Rough night for Rosa, hopefully he starts taking some walks.

Thanks for the recap. How was Berry’s velocity? Also, what is the long-term plan for Caleb Joseph? With so few true hitting prospects, will they try him at first? Is he trade bait? Finally, is the plan this year for Givens to stay at extended spring training and then play for Bluefield/Aberdeen? Thanks.
No problem. Not sure about Berry’s velocity, I’ll let you know when I find out.
They want Caleb to become a starting caliber catcher, obviously. With Wieters in Baltimore, it’s likely that Joseph will be trade bait like you said. Worst comes to worse and he’s a very good backup catcher.
Givens told me at ST that he’ll likely head to Aberdeen after extended ST.
